Research Experience

Masters Research

Master’s Thesis focused on the population genetics and population structure of Australian Red Claw Crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) which has recently established itself as a non-native species on the island of Puerto Rico.

Undergraduate Research

2011                Study of changes in macro-invertebrate community structure after a gravel augmentation project in the American River, Sacramento, CA.

2011                Bio-monitoring of the Valley Elderberry Long Horn Beetle (Desmocerus californicus dimorphus) at a restoration site in Sacramento, CA.

2011                Study of alkaline phosphatase expression in amphipods (Hyallela azteca) after being subject to sediment spiked with phosphorus in Cuatro Cienegas, Mexico and Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona.

2010                Study of responses of Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiid in the presence of an omnivorous freshwater shrimp (Xiphocarus elongata) at the El Verde Long Term Ecological Research Station, Puerto Rico.

2010-2009       Developed pilot project to divert municipal waste from 45 sites nationwide for Pick-N-Pull “You Pull It Auto Parts” corporate office in Rancho Cordova, California.

2009                Study of growth, survivorship, and behavior of a native (Cambarus bartonii) and an invasive crayfish (Orconectes rusticus) on a native (Liriodendron tulipifera) and invasive (Ailanthus altissima) plant diet at Millersville University, Millersville, Pennsylvania.
